The New York Jazz Workshop is a community-based jazz music school for students of all ages, with three convenient locations in midtown Manhattan. Now in our fifth year of operation, we continue to enliven a passion for jazz in our students, and teach the vital musical building blocks using a unique methodology. Our faculty includes instructors from renowned conservatories and universities such as NYU, The New School, Columbia University, Manhattan School of Music and Julliard.

For the Young Lions: Teen Summer Camp for Jazz Improvisation
Improvisation is synonymous with communication. Improvising requires you to listen to the other band members and communicate through your instrument. And it challenges you to be creative with your individual voice while performing in a group. The skills you’ll learn in this jazz camp are vital to your development as a musician, and can be applied to other styles of music, as well as your personal life. The camp is led by Craig McGorry — a talented jazz musician with over 20 years of experience teaching music to teens. He’s a passionate educator and licensed with the NYC Board of Education.
