ANDREA VENEZIANI: Acoustic and Electric Bass

Topics:
I teach Electric and acoustic bass technique, from pizzicato to bow, slap and tapping. I also accept students that play instruments other than the bass for other topics like harmony and rhythm studies, improvisation (from swing to free jazz and modern styles), interplay and bass and drums interactions, repertoire building, ear training and sight reading, music history, composition and arranging.

Philosophy:
My goal as a music teacher is to understand the needs that every student has in order to build an educational path tailored for the student's need in that particular moment of his music development. Every musician is different and at any level there are topics and subjects that require to be studied and practiced. More in particular as a bassist I also try to let my students know about the role that our instrument invest in the music and in the music business, in order to prepare them for the working experience outside of the school.

MARYANN McSWEENEY : Acoustic and Electric Bass

Topics:
Lessons include scales and technical exercises to build strength. We will also learn to play over a 12 bar blues and a 32 bar form. I also like to get the students input about things they want to learn. We will also do a lot of listening.

Philosophy:
Music is joyful, fun and takes work. The more work you put into it the more you get out of it. Grooving is the most important element of jazz. I will construct a lesson plan that is for each individual
