All ensembles have a hands-on approach, focusing on the various aspects of rhythm section and frontline playing: logistics of listening, clarifying instrument roles, the decision-making process, developing performance awareness, concentration and instrument control. Material will be presented to the students relevant to the theme of the ensemble, and will coincide with an in-depth study of that particular area.

General Concept: Classes start as soon as we have a minimum of five students signed up for the class. After registration (with no obligation) we will add you to the list of the course in question. As soon as we have five students or more registered for the class we will contact you with the date and time. Right now the Improve class is running and open for students to check out.

3rd Annual Summer Summit Series 2011

Musicians from all over the globe have turned to the New York Jazz Workshop “Summer Summit Series” to improve their jazz playing. Whether a beginning improviser or a seasoned pro, we ensure that you will leave the Workshop with tons of new and exciting ideas about how to improve your playing.

Each Year we offer a series of four-day summer programs lead by the nation’s leading educators and performers dedicated to providing an intensive learning experience for musicians of all levels.  The 2011 program includes an Improvisation Workshop, a Vocal Workshop, a Guitar Workshop and a Drums and Percussion Workshop, all presented in the heart of Manhattan around the corner of Times Square.

Our Summer Workshops are UNIQUELY different from any other  summer jazz program in that we only accept a maximum of 10 students in each workshop. With this approach we ensure that each student gets individual attention, making this workshop an intense and profound experience.

The Workshops' enrollment is strictly limited, and admittance is always on a first-come, first-served basis. We reserve the right to refuse registrations as space and instrumentation limitations require.

Everybody gets an equal chance to sign up. But remember that we only accept a total of 10 students:  we turn people away every year - sign up early!
