New York Jazz Workshop has classes for every level, from beginner to advanced. Whether are a student just starting to improvise, a professional wanting to sharpen your skills, or a professional in another field with passion for music looking to play in a band setting, we have a class for you.

New York Jazz Workshop runs both intensive four-day workshops as well as weekly two-hour classes. New York Jazz Workshop, Inc. uses a unique methodology designed to simplify the learning of jazz through ear training, melodic, harmonic and rhythmic exercises, as well as group and individual performances. Our New York City location offers students an exceptional learning environment, providing fantastic jazz offerings, and opportunities to both observe and participate in live performances and jam sessions.

While our primary focus is on jazz, we believe that the skills we provide in our classes are universal and invaluable for any style of music from pop and rock to classical and contemporary. After taking a course with New York Jazz Workshop, Inc. you will acquire improved focus as well as new tools to continue your practice in a more enjoyable and productive way and maybe, in the process, you'll make friends to play with.

Stay tuned, more workshops in the works:

We are thinking about a second mixed meter/ polyrhythm class (withMiles Okazaki) and an afro-cuban workshop (with Doug Beavers), let us know if you are interested or if you have another workshop in mind.

Our dream is to form the NYJW big band. We are looking for students that are excited about playing in a real big band. Please let us know if you are interested.
