About the Guitar Intensive Program
Learn jazz guitar with the two guitar masters this summer! This special 2-day intensive is the perfect setting to fine tune your improvisation, harmony, and technique.
Dates: August 29-30
All sessions will be held from 11am to 5pm at our main space around the corner of Times Square. More detailed outline and information on the schedule will follow.
-Previous experience playing guitar and a willingness to learn
-Instructors may ask for a recorded sample before admission
-At least 17 years of age
-Some of our intensives are better suited to intermediate and advanced musicians with a minimum of a few years on their instrument; other summer intensives, such as the beginner vocal and choir, are open to everyone. More details can be discussed during registration.
About the Faculty
Sebastian Noelle (8/29)- Guitarist and composer Sebastian Noelle has been an active member of New York City’s multi-faceted creative music scene since 2002, performing at venues such as 55 Bar, Cornelia Street Café, The Blue Note, Jazz Gallery, Iridium, Merkin Hall, Tea Lounge, The Knitting Factory and the Jazz Standard. He has released two CDs on the European FreshSound-NewTalent label: “Across The River” (2006), featuring Donny McCaslin, Ben Street and Ari Hoenig, and “Koan” (2011), with Loren Stillman, George Colligan, Thomson Kneeland and Tony Moreno. He is exploring new ways in improvisation using microtones, ragas and rhythms from the Balkans and the Middle East. Learn more
Nate Radley (8/30)- Nate Radley is a guitarist and composer who as been described as “an emerging player to watch” and a “brilliant… player on the New York scene.” He can be heard with a variety of collaborative projects and as a sideman in numerous bands both in the New York area and around the world. Nate has performed throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe and played at jazz festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival, and the Atlanta Jazz Festival. He has performed and recorded with artists such as Matt Wilson, Donny McCaslin, Mark Turner, Chris Potter, Greg Osby, Cuong Vu, Seamus Blake, John McNeil, Maria Schneider, and others. Learn more

What to expect:
When you join us for one or more of our intensives, you can expect to become a member of our tightly knit community. There will be musicians from all over the world looking to learn, explore and make connections. You will be making connections that last a lifetime. A typical day will be as follows:
11:00am – 1:00pm: Morning Sessions
1:00pm – 2:00pm Lunch Break
2:00pm – 5:00pm: Afternoon Sessions
Student will normally organize small groups or go check out some concerts. See “Fun Evening Activities” in the General Information page for more details. There will be opportunities for every student to perform outside of the school, more details coming up soon.
The New York Jazz Workshop Summer Series is held in our space at Michiko Studios in midtown Manhattan, just a few blocks from Times Square.
