The New York Jazz Workshop is proud to present The “Brazilian Ensemble” Class.
This workshop will be co-hosted by two fantastic teachers, Vitor Gonçalves and Vanderlei Pereira, and meets every Thursday at 7pm. The teachers will take turns hosting the class and occasionally will teach together.

In this workshop, we will explore a variety of Brazilians styles, such as Bossa Nova, Samba, Partido Alto, Choro, Baião, Xote, Frevo, Maracatu and Ijexá. Musicians will have a chance to develop their skills on playing these Brazilian styles, accompanying, improvising, and phrasing using the appropriate patterns, accents and articulations within each style. The repertoire will include pieces by composers such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Baden Powell, Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, Pixinguinha, Dominguinhos, Johnny Alf and other Brazilian master composers. This workshop is an intermediate level but can accommodate many musicians with varying background.
