Courses

Trimester courses are special four to ten week classes with flexible starting dates including eartraining, transcription and notation with finale and sibelius.

Notation with Sibelius
This new, creative take on music notation software instruction will start from the beginning, covering the basics of note entry, selecting, copying, and editing music. For five Tuesdays students will proceed to learn how to create a jazz lead sheet with chord symbols and rhythmic notation, and how to properly format parts and scores of any size, from quintet to big band.
Notational Fluency for Transcription and Dictation: Level One
The "Notational Fluency for Transcription and Dictation" course works on developing notational fluency for staple musical elements, dictation of brief diatonic melodic lines, then building to transcription of longer jazz solo excerpts which use a greater degree of chromaticism.
